Eliza from Food Diary tagged me to mention 5 top things to eat before I die. Oh, my.. only 5? I have many on the list. :).
This project was initiated by Melisa from The Traveler's Lunch Box. For any detail of this project, please read on her site. Good idea, isn't it? This could be a global food guide for travelers. And I'm glad to participate. Thank's, Eliza.
It's mouthwatering to think about these top 5... haha.. :). Hmm.. I like many foods from different countries. Yup, from different countries. But.. if I'm dying, I'd prefer foods from my home country, Indonesia :). Eventhough I made restriction to Indonesian foods only, I could hardly pick 5 of them :). You know, every province in Indonesia has its own specialties. Indonesia is very rich in culinary tradition. I have written few of Indonesian specialties here.
OK, back to the project :). Here are the top 5 for me:
1. Ayam Taliwang (Spicy Grilled Chicken, one of specialties of Lombok, Indonesia)
I ate Ayam Taliwang the first time at "Taliwang Bersaudara" Restaurant, on Ciliwung Street, Bandung, Indonesia. Yup, and I fell in love at the first bite :). They have also very tasty "Plecing Kangkung", a tasty water spinach.
2. Nasi Padang (A complete dish from Padang, West Sumatra, Indonesia)
Padangnese Restaurant is ussualy a kind of fastfood restaurant. There you can choose "ready to be served dishes". Hmm.. I would choose :
Nasi (Rice), Lalab Daun Singkong (Blanched Casava Leaf) Sambel Ijo (Green Chili Sauce) Ayam Goreng(Fried Chicken) or Rendang (Spicy Beef) or Dendeng Balado(Spicy Dried Meat). Yes, this sentence contains many "or"s not "and"s. I would die quicker if it contains many "and"s ;).Padangnese cuisine is very popular in entire Indonesia. Therefore you can find Padangnese Restaurant (or at least canteen) easily in every province in Indonesia.
3. Soto Ayam (Javanese Spicy Chicken Soup, one of specialties of Java, Indonesia)
You may read more about Soto Ayam here.
4. Empek-empek Palembang (Specialty of Palembang, Indonesia)
You may read more about Mpek-mpek Palembang, here.
5. Ikan Bakar Sambal Dabu-dabu (Spicy Grilled Fish, one of specialties of Manado, North Sulawesi, Indonesia).
Ikan bakar (Grilled Fish) with Sambal dabu-dabu spread on it. Sambal dabu-dabu contains minced chili, tomato, onion, and lime juice.
Now is my turn to tag. I will tag..... hmmm... Hup! : Arfi Binsted from Homemades, Lolita from Lolita's Kitchen, Jens from Jenz's Corner, Mita from Unofficial Cook, Robyn Eckhardt and David Hagerman from Eating Asia.
